Live Training: Propane Power Generation and Water Heating at IBS 2012

Check out these three training sessions at this year's show — or train online.

It's fine to read about how a product works, but nothing beats a hands-on, in-person demonstration.

Construction pros attending this year's International Builders' Show (February 8 to 11) in Orlando, Fla., will get plenty of opportunities to learn about some of the latest propane-fueled products at the Custom Builder Symposium.

"Specifying Propane Standby Generators," a training event on Friday, February 10, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., will cover three main types of residential generators and will include tips on how to size a generator for specific home power usage and how to identify the fuel that offers the most reliability. This training session is aimed at helping builders, remodelers, and architects become knowledgeable enough about backup power systems to advise clients during a purchase. This training session will be held in West 311A.

The Propane Education & Research Council will also sponsor two "Meet the Expert" sessions. NAHB-Certified Green Professional Tom Jaenicke will tackle the topic of standby and off-grid generators (Thursday, February 9, 3 to 3:30 p.m. in 304AB). Sponsored by Generac, this session will cover selecting the right generator for backup or off-grid applications, both popular options among homeowners who want to reduce dependence on traditional power sources.

Jaenicke will also host another "Meet the Expert" session, sponsored by Rinnai, on tankless water heaters (Friday, February 10, from 1 to 1:30 p.m. in 304AB). Propane tankless water heaters are on the cutting edge of energy efficiency and environmentally friendly hot water delivery. Jaenicke will answer all your questions and prepare you to help your clients make smart water heating decisions.

Then tap into the wealth of information available at PERC's booth (W3129), which will once again be a part of the American Gas Association booth. Stop by to learn about interactive training tools, the latest in propane appliances and equipment, and the ways propane improves the energy efficiency and environmental profile of all key residential applications. While there, you can also register for a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab, courtesy of PERC.
