Get Trained at JLC Live

Sessions with Kohler Power, Marathon Engine Systems, and Rinnai offer up-to-the minute tips and insights from the pros.

JLC Live has always been known for its hands-on demonstrations, especially at the New England show, held each spring in Providence, R.I. This year's event, which runs from March 23 to March 26, will be no exception—especially at Booth #839, home of the Propane Innovation Pavilion.

In connection with the Propane Gas Association of New England (PGANE) and show partners Kohler Power, Marathon Engine Systems, and Rinnai, the Propane Education & Research Council will host hour-long training sessions on Fri., March 25, and Sat., March 26. NAHB-Certified Green Professional Tom Jaenicke, an expert on propane applications, will lead the sessions in tandem with representatives from Kohler, Marathon, and Rinnai. There will also be a special training session for trade students and apprentices on March 25. The JLC Live training sessions are:

Title: Sizing and Installation Considerations for Kohler Residential Backup Generators
When: Fri., March 25, 1 to 2 p.m.; Sat., March 26, 11 a.m. to noon
Description: The session will give installers an understanding of the information needed to determine proper sizing and other installation considerations for a propane residential backup generator system.

Title: Understanding the Installation and Performance of ecopower microCHP Cogeneration Systems
When: Fri., March 25, 2 to 3 p.m.; Sat., March 26, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Description: Installers will get a thorough hands-on training session on the operating fundamentals of micro combined heat and power (microCHP) systems for residential and light commercial use.

Title: Key Installation Aspects of Signature Rinnai Products
When: Fri., March 25,10 to 11 a.m.; Sat., March 26, 1 to 2 p.m
Description: Session covers the installation of a Rinnai direct-vent furnace and offers installation tips on other Rinnai products such as tankless water heaters.

Representatives from Kohler, Marathon, and Rinnai also will join together to put on a training session for area trade students and apprentices:

Title: A Hands-On Approach to Understanding Innovative Gas Energy Projects
When: Fri., March 25, 11 a.m. to noon
Description: Students will get an inside look at a number of signature gas energy products from Kohler, Marathon, and Rinnai. These will include a backup generator, a microCHP system, a tankless water heater, and unique space-heating products. Manufacturers' representatives will ask volunteers from the audience to dig inside to help the rest find out how some of this new technology works.
