New Research Program Offers Incentive Toward Propane-Fueled Pest Control Technology
Propane Heat & Power Incentive Program provides $5,000 for bed bug treatment solution
WASHINGTON (April 24, 2013) The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) announces the launch of its Propane Heat & Power Incentive Program, a nationwide research initiative designed to encourage the adoption of new energy-efficient propane-fueled products by homeowners and business owners.
Participants can receive $5,000 toward the purchase of a Temp-Air Thermal Remediation system in exchange for reporting performance data on equipment to PERC. Businesses and homeowners can apply for up to two qualifying products, and feedback will be used to supplement future product development and research.
"Propane is a clean-burning, American-made fuel that can help business owners and homeowners quickly and efficiently treat bedbug infestations," Bridget Scanlon, director of residential and commercial programs at PERC, said. "The Propane Heat & Power Incentive Program lowers the initial purchase cost for propane-fueled pest control heat treatment technology, enabling more businesses and homes to eliminate pests without hazardous fumes."
Unlike other bedbug control methods that use pesticides or steam, heat-based solutions treat the entire space or building, not just sleeping areas. The Temp-Air Thermal Remediation system is ideal for the heat treatment of bedbugs in dorms, hotels, apartments, and single-family homes. This four-heater system can typically treat up to 1,400 square feet of space in six to eight hours.
The Propane Heat & Power Incentive Program also offers $5,000 toward the Marathon Ecopower and Yanmar CP5WN micro-combined heat and systems, $10,000 for the Yanmar CP10WN system, and $1,500 toward Kohler 6VSG and Generac EcoGen 6 kW generator sets.
