The Interactive Training ModuleAn All-in-One Training Center for Propane Users
Add the Module to Your Site
Use the simple customization form to design the module. You’ll also see step-by-step instructions for implementing the module on your site.
What Is It?
The Interactive Training Module is a bundle of Web tools that demonstrates the energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and innovation that building with propane allows. Tools within the module may include an energy cost calculator, a directory of propane products, and a virtual tour of a propane-fueled home. By bundling the tools into a single interface, the Interactive Training Module lets you easily create a professional training area and supplement the static areas of your website with more engaging content.
How Should I Use It?
The Interactive Training Module is self-sufficient and flexible. Given enough visibility on your site, the module will invite users to interact with the component tools, increasing the amount of time they spend with your messaging. But to get the most benefit from the tools, consider the following best practices.

Give It a Good Home
Place the module in the appropriate section of your site, such as an area for resources, interactive components, or professional training. Remember, the module is geared toward residential construction trade audiences. We recommend placing the module away from promotional or sales materials, which may lead visitors to mistake the module for an ad.
Include a headline, subhead, and a brief description of the module on the page. The site visitor is likely expecting to see written content or photos. Explain that these tools provide a better way to understand propane's benefits. A descriptive headline and subhead — for example, "How Will Propane Perform in My Home? Compare Systems and Calculate Energy Savings" — will also help users find your page from search engines.
Divide and Conquer
Why not separate tools into discrete modules and deploy them in multiple areas of your website? For example, place a module with the Energy Calculator and the Comparative Heating Map in the home-heating section of your site. Then place a second module with the Product Directory in the technology or rebate section.
Multiple modules can be embedded throughout a site — but not on a single page. Doing so will cause the modules to interfere with each other and behave oddly.
Show What the Module Can Do
In the description of the module, cite example calculations specific to your market or business. For example, the Heating Energy Cost and Carbon Calculator is a highly customizable tool that accepts regional information such as actual local energy prices. Instead of merely stating that users will find accurate pricing estimates, cite a sample calculation: "A new 94 AFUE propane furnace in an efficient home will cost approximately $1,734 to fuel each year in Wilmington, Del. Try it yourself and see."
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the module going to do for my site?
The module gives site visitors a way to learn about propane systems in an engaging, interactive way. Think about what the module is doing for the user. While advertising and promotions directly push people to use or switch to propane, the module teaches them how efficient systems lower energy costs and where propane fits into the entire performance profile of a home or business. When the time comes to switch to propane, the user will be more informed about system options and advantages over other systems.
What if I want only some of the tools? Or just one?
The sign-up page enables customization of the module to include only the selected tools. It also offers the module in three sizes and colors.
What are the “show propane news” and “show propane training” options?
In addition to offering tools, the module can take users to the latest articles from PERC's residential professional newsletter, the Propane Energy Update. The news items scroll by in the bottom area of the module. The tab on the left side of the module opens up to show links to educational content related to each tool.
Please note that these links will take the user to our site (buildwithpropane.com) or to our training site (propanetrainingacademy.com). Also, the product directory tool is the only one of the tools that takes users to our site. If you’d rather not have users leave your site, or if most of your customers aren’t construction professionals, just deselect the feature from the module.
How often are tools updated? How often are new tools created?
We are constantly making improvements to existing tools and creating new ones. Expect at least one significant change that affects the module each year. Module subscribers will be notified about the change by email. New updates take effect automatically; subscribers do not have to do anything for changes to roll out onto their site.
I’ve deployed the module successfully. Now what?
Promote the module on your home page and in outbound marketing emails. Just because you’ve published the module doesn’t mean users will find it. Adding a small banner or link from the home page will increase the number of visitors to the module.
